Restoring Her 4: Find a Starting Point

Wellbeing is personal, and so is the starting point

When life already feels full, a major lifestyle overhaul may not be realistic. Rather than trying to change lots of things at once, begin by identifying the one area that would make the most meaningful difference to you right now.

For some, finding a starting point might mean creating more opportunities for rest and recovery. For others, it could involve reconnecting with movement, strengthening relationships or finding time to pursue personal interests.

The key is to start with your actual circumstances, not an idealised version of what your life should look like.

You can begin with a small adjustment that feels achievable for your current situation. Perhaps you decide to:

  • Establish a more consistent routine around rest

  • Make time for movement that you enjoy

  • Connect with people who bring encouragement and connection.

Over time, these small decisions can help you develop a lifestyle that better reflects your individual needs and priorities.

The important thing is to find an approach that is realistic, and meaningful to you.

A Different Way Forward: Reflect, Prioritise and Begin

My own journey has taught me that meaningful change doesn't necessarily mean starting from scratch.

After a significant health challenge prompted me to pause and reassess my wellbeing and priorities, I reflected on what I needed and what I wanted to do differently.

I became more intentional about rest, movement, nutrition and everyday habits that supported my recovery, and rather than trying to change everything at once, I began making adjustments that felt meaningful within my circumstances. This reinforced something I now bring into my coaching: meaningful change begins with understanding where you are, recognising what matters most and identifying a realistic place to begin.

You don't need to have everything figured out. Start with your circumstances, build on what you already have and take one intentional step forward.

Your starting point

  • Reflect: Where do you feel the greatest gap between your current circumstance and how you would like to be?

  • Prioritise: Why is this important to me at this stage of my life?

  • Begin: What is one realistic step I could take this week?

A clear starting point, combined with ongoing support and accountability, can build momentum and gradually shape the direction of your long-term wellbeing.
